A forest of sleeping angles
Hazy halos of gold
Velvet rose
Soft purple
And rich blends of each
The air is brisk
And the wind harsh
But my heart is warmed
By the sight of glory
Hanging on the edge of the earth
Dazzling spectacles of light
Dancing on the icy pond
Frost sparkles on the tips of grass
Everything is still
No one of God's creatures
So much as whistles a tune
No bird chirps
No hounds howl
No cat purrs
Only peace whispers
Through the trees

Electricity
Winding through an untraceable maze
Trolling through rubber halls
Being suffocated
By the very walls that surround me
Know not of what lies beyond them
A point of uncertainty
Is my destination
A place where I go unnoticed
I am not seen
But I help light the dark rooms
I am not heard
But I play the most beautiful melodies
I can not be felt
But my heat warms your bodies
I am not admired
Until I am lost
I am something you need
Something you must own
But nobody owns me
No one can take my power
Because I am power
Trolling through rubber halls
Being suffocated
By the very walls that surround me
Know not of what lies beyond them
A point of uncertainty
Is my destination
A place where I go unnoticed
I am not seen
But I help light the dark rooms
I am not heard
But I play the most beautiful melodies
I can not be felt
But my heat warms your bodies
I am not admired
Until I am lost
I am something you need
Something you must own
But nobody owns me
No one can take my power
Because I am power

The Intersection
On the road more so traveled
I find myself at an intersection
One that can lead me anywhere
Lead me to more intersections
To more lights
Signs
And cars
To more people
Pedestrians
And possibilities
Then from there to even more intersections
Ones that tell me to stop
Yield
And go
Some that tell me to turn
Went to walk
And when to not
Now I am at one
One with infinite outcomes
One with infinite outputs
With so many variables
More than just x’s and y’s
More than just what equals the sum of 83
More than the area of a circle
And the first 20 numbers in pi
More than a spreadsheet on the table
It is so much more than a ticker number
Or a 500 word article that ends up on page 7
It is more than what lies before me at a desk
In the middle of a cubicle
In the center of a bullpen
On the 20th floor of an office building
On the street that no one cares to name
I am at an intersection
Full of wonders
Hopes
And dreams
I am at an intersection full of lanes
And I cannot choose one
I am caught in the median without a guide
Then I see them
Through the timid light of dawn
And the shadows that mimic and mock
All that I see is a little being
Standing in the middle of the street
Alone and impatient
Standing there and waiting
For someone to come
Driving down this parkway
Down this Lane
Down this Boulevard
Driving down without attention
Looking someplace else
Being someplace else
Not see them standing here
Not see them till they are gone
Far from here
And far beyond
I swerve but to no avail
There is a crash without a burn
There is a body without a life
They are gone and I am left
Left to clean up a mess that I did not make
This is what my intersection brought to me
This is what came of each choice
This is what has become of me
I will never be the same as I was
Before the intersection

Strung out
What if I held a string
What if I were that string
Would I pull it tight
Or let it suspend in air
Would I stay on a planned path
Or see where everything takes me

A Gift
The doorbell rings at an approach
The wiggling handle moves the most
How your drum beats study in your ear
How you hold back a fearful tear
Then you open was such a surprise
Two boxes and a note
"One is a gift that opens your mind,
Another a curse to bring you to your demise"
I am Paint
I am smeared on I canvas
Raped by other colors
Thinned
And stabbed by hairy bristles
I stained clothes and carpet
I am wash down the drain
Unwanted till made into perfection
Which only the beholder can pronounce
I am oil
Acrylic
Water
I am at the will of one
One that is many
An artist
A visual musician
I am the liquid clay they mold
Holding my shape and design
On a paper
Canvas
Or wall
I am paint
Oh Captain of Wedding
Oh bride and groom
Your fearful planning is done
The dress has been found
The tux has been worn
And the rings you now adorn
Oh bridesmaid and groomsmen
Your loyalt, worthwhile
To see them beam and smile
Out with the old and in with the new
All for the "I do"
Oh father of the bride
You stand tall and proud
As you walk her down
And now you stand
For the other man
Your fearful planning is done
The dress has been found
The tux has been worn
And the rings you now adorn
Oh bridesmaid and groomsmen
Your loyalt, worthwhile
To see them beam and smile
Out with the old and in with the new
All for the "I do"
Oh father of the bride
You stand tall and proud
As you walk her down
And now you stand
For the other man

Things That...
Oh many a thing can amaze
Oh many a thing can amuse
But with many agaze
And with many to choose
Such things shall escape
Oh many a thing can amuse
But with many agaze
And with many to choose
Such things shall escape
Candle Light
Now upon such a light
With little fading will
Nothing may burn so bright
Just until
A whispering breath may blow
With little fading will
Nothing may burn so bright
Just until
A whispering breath may blow

Tall Tale
Such a tall story
Without any glory
The tale of a man
Who discovered a great land
To with no avil
He was swallow whole by a whale
Without any glory
The tale of a man
Who discovered a great land
To with no avil
He was swallow whole by a whale
Color Schemes
There are 50 shades of grey
And 100 are blue
There are 44 shades of white
And which some are new
There are 78 themes of black
Oh what ever shall we do
There are a million... BILLION colors
But I just named 262
And 100 are blue
There are 44 shades of white
And which some are new
There are 78 themes of black
Oh what ever shall we do
There are a million... BILLION colors
But I just named 262
Across: this outrageous notion
Hop on a plane
And fly across the ocean
I know it sound insane
About this outrageous notion
But believe me
When I say
You will see
When you come my way
Come one or many
Come all
Or any
You shall tell a tale so tall
And fly across the ocean
I know it sound insane
About this outrageous notion
But believe me
When I say
You will see
When you come my way
Come one or many
Come all
Or any
You shall tell a tale so tall

A Fading Friend
First you feet go cold
Then your fingers and toes
Just as you were told
Just as your child grows
Then everything becomes clear
You begin to fray and fade
You will soon be an old tear
Just as soon as you were made
No one saw you to begin with
But that makes no difference
You were your child's myth
Now you become pass tense
Then your fingers and toes
Just as you were told
Just as your child grows
Then everything becomes clear
You begin to fray and fade
You will soon be an old tear
Just as soon as you were made
No one saw you to begin with
But that makes no difference
You were your child's myth
Now you become pass tense
Dream Catcher
I hang in your window
Above your bed
Above your head
You sleep and I swing
Filtering your dreams
Through my lovely seams
I catch the unwanted
The nightmares and fears
To save you from tears
And when I am filled
To the brim and back
You shake me out like a dirty sack
Then I go to my place
Above your bed
Above your head
Above your bed
Above your head
You sleep and I swing
Filtering your dreams
Through my lovely seams
I catch the unwanted
The nightmares and fears
To save you from tears
And when I am filled
To the brim and back
You shake me out like a dirty sack
Then I go to my place
Above your bed
Above your head
The Wishing Ages
When you're seven
You wish you were five
When you're eleven
You wish you were nine
When you're freshman
You want to be junior
When you're senior
You wish you were done sooner
Now that you're older
And the work day is longer
You wish you were seven
So you could wish to be five
You wish you were five
When you're eleven
You wish you were nine
When you're freshman
You want to be junior
When you're senior
You wish you were done sooner
Now that you're older
And the work day is longer
You wish you were seven
So you could wish to be five

Insomnia
Oh how soft and swiftly the night may come
Oh how steady your heart beats like a drum
In the dead of night when all lie asleep
You lay alive and count your ghostly sheep
All sound hits like a clap of thunder
All shadows grow to a fifty foot wonder
Your eyes peel back with the amazement and fright
While you lie in the dead of night
Oh how steady your heart beats like a drum
In the dead of night when all lie asleep
You lay alive and count your ghostly sheep
All sound hits like a clap of thunder
All shadows grow to a fifty foot wonder
Your eyes peel back with the amazement and fright
While you lie in the dead of night

It's Nothing But a Monster
I hear the creaking of the steps
I hear the voices inside my head
You ask me what scares me
It is the pitch black in the night
The boogie man under my bed
The claw marks on the walls
And torn up carpet on the floor
A thick smell of whisky in the air
And you ask why I'm scared
The fighting and the yelling
The verbal war that has now begun
And in the midnight hour
When men become monsters
When the talons of hell come reaching up
You ask me what scares me
But I assure you
It's nothing
I hear the voices inside my head
You ask me what scares me
It is the pitch black in the night
The boogie man under my bed
The claw marks on the walls
And torn up carpet on the floor
A thick smell of whisky in the air
And you ask why I'm scared
The fighting and the yelling
The verbal war that has now begun
And in the midnight hour
When men become monsters
When the talons of hell come reaching up
You ask me what scares me
But I assure you
It's nothing
